Cheaptrip is an affordable travel service company out of Moscow, Russia. This innovative company is delivering technology-based traveling services through the promotion of special offers, networking with hotels, and collaborating with tour providers.
The customer wanted to have a “hunting” app that would essentially allow users to explore available traveling tours on their own accord. The user could configure the parameters, including tour type, price, and other factors, to pinpoint the kinds of tour adventures they want.
Once parameters are set, the mobile app will continue supplying them more results based on their input. The app works in live mode, actively searching for better and more suitable results.
ITM House began the project by creating an aggregation system for collecting information on available tours. The app was designed for use on iOS and Android.
The initial framework of the app was a directory of queiers and parameters, providing exactly what the client wanted. But, the real bonus was real-time updating and tracking, where users can receive immediate updates as soon as they are added to the system. The search parameters would close or open this information to the account. If a match was made, a trigger would occur in the system and the user is notified.
Lastly, the user could book the tour through the app. They could also dismiss the update or create new search parameters. Through all this, the system consisted of:
- Tour cost details (and average tendencies for similar tours)
- A tour operator stock dashboard
- A list of “hot” tours
- Exclusive offers for Cheaptrip users
- A private sale channel
- Custom and tailor-made Cheaptrips
- Discounted tours based on flight and accommodation discounts
- The highest rated tours
In order to build the application, ITM House resorted to native iOS (iPhone and iPad) and Android technologies. The development included a mobile frontend and backend (REST API was used to build the aggregation mechanism and enable multiple source data collection and processing).
